Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island in South Carolina is one of the birthplaces of basically trained Marines. It is where America’s young men and women are transformed into Marines by training physically, mentally and morally to prepare for the challenges of the 21st century.

Because Parris Island is a state–of–the–art training facility, they were in need of a new way to house and distribute weapons. The old system was antiquated and time consuming. Capabilities were also needed to grow the system if necessary.

Modern Business Systems owner Bill Pitts came up with the solution: a specially–designed, non–marring, modular storage system called WeaponStor.

According to Retired Chief Warrant Officer William Thrasher, this patent–pending system hasproduced an array of advantages.

  • Reduced the time required to complete the monthly serialized inventory from 5 workdays to two workdays.
  • Reduced the time to pull a plasticized issue of 65 rifles from 40 minutes to 10 minutes.
  • Reduced the time required to conduce a platoon–sized turn–in from abhor to 20 minutes.
  • Reduced the number of series 5200 locks used from 228 down to only 2 high–security locks.
  • Eliminated repetitive wrist injuries to Marines caused from lifting and bearing the weight of rifles stored horizontally in the old system.
