The Face–Off
Ongoing research and innovation give patients at the MCG Dental Practice Group the latest in technology and treatment. The existing facilities, however, were in need of an “extreme makeover” to support modern patient care standards.
The 38–member faculty of the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry offers patient care at the clinic to server the community and keep their clinical skills updated, says Dr. Travis Smith, the group’s director. “All dental specialties are offered right here, under one roof... from general dentistry to orthodontics to cosmetic dentistry.”

The Challenge
The designers at Modern Business Systems were asked to create a cutting–edge space, while also providing a calming environment for patients and visitors.
The clinic, located on the third floor of the Medical College of Georgia’s School of Dentistry, totaled 2,000 square feet and had not been adaptedness the 1970’'s.
New work spaces, including a consultation room and reception area, had to be defined.
Timeline for completion of the job was eight weeks, but they had to work around the clinic’s operation hours.

The Results
Using a modular wall system by Haworth Architectural Interiors, the professionals at Modern Business Systems were able to define work spaces in hours instead of the days required by traditional construction.
The result gave the clinic the open, modern, cutting–edge atmosphere they desired. Muted earth tones, Southwestern–inspired artwork, sleek furniture and curved silhouettes completed the design. In fact, the shape of the glass cut&@8211;out in the door was integrated into a new logo for the clinic!
The best part? Instead of taking eight weeks for completion, this job was finished, walls and all, in than 24 business hours!
